2021 SSAWW Triennial Conference – Covid-19 Code of Conduct

SSAWW COVID-19 Statement of Conduct

To ensure that our conference is as safe as possible, and in keeping with CDC guidelines to slow the transmission of COVID-19, the Society for the Study of American Women Writers will work to protect not only its members but  the most vulnerable people,  including the immunocompromised, the elderly, the very young, and the various service and support workers who make conferences like this one possible.

Mindful of the risks of group gatherings during this uncertain time, we ask that you abide by the following community guidelines in order to ensure the health and safety of our attendees and the wider community during our upcoming conference. Specifically, we ask that all conference attendees:

  • Be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before attending the conference if able to do so.
  • Wear a mask during the conference, whether you are vaccinated or not.
  • Notify SSAWW Conference Organizers as soon as possible by emailing <ssaww.conferences@gmail.com>  if you are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms or are exposed to someone with Covid-19.  Please cease attending conference activities and follow all hotel guidelines for quarantining. A list of local Covid-19 testing sites is available at https://coronavirus.baltimorecity.gov/where-get-tested-covid-19-baltimore-city. Google will provide you with urgent care centers nearest the hotel
  • Become familiar with the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Hotel health and safety protocols, which will align with the guidelines of the city of Baltimore and  must be followed by all attendees throughout the conference.

We further ask that conference attendees understand, acknowledge, and assume all the risks and dangers associated with attending the conference, including contracting Covid-19.

We are excited about being together after all these months, and we thank attendees for abiding by these requirements so that we can maintain our commitment to one another and to the collective responsibility we all have to ensure  the health and safety of ourselves, our SSAWW family, and our larger communities during this challenging time.
