Faculty Position in English (Union University)

Union University seeks a qualified individual for the tenure-track Faculty Position in English, with demonstrated expertise in Secondary Education. Applicants should offer an additional area of expertise, which might include Twentieth-century Literatures in English (British, American, or global Anglophone) or Rhetoric and Composition (e.g., professional writing, or technical writing). Rank assignment commensurate with education/experience. This position includes competitive salary and benefits package.

Position Description: 

Duties include the following:

  • Supervising student teaching internships for English majors seeking secondary teaching licensure.
  • Teaching an annual English methods course designed for English majors seeking secondary teaching licensure.
  • Maintaining the standard full-time teaching load of 12 hours per semester, including internship supervision, introductory composition and world literature courses, and additional courses in an additional area of academic expertise.
  • Pursuing an active research agenda.


Graduation from an accredited college or university with completed Ph.D. degree in English or equivalent discipline is expected; ABD status will receive consideration. Preference will be given to candidates with an active research agenda.

Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University’s Identity, Mission and Core Values, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life.
