Lebanon Valley College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Africana studies and/or related fields. The area of specialization is open to candidates in the arts, humanities, and/or an interdisciplinary field. Disciplinary backgrounds may include, but are not restricted to, diaspora studies, critical race theory, African American studies, contemporary art, visual and print cultures, African American literature, and media studies.
The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in Africana Studies or a closely related field (advanced ABD’s will also be considered), with demonstrated scholarly or artistic promise, a strong commitment to teaching, and ability to contribute to diversity programming on campus. The position will be supported in work across the humanities by a vibrant community of interdisciplinary scholar-teachers working in various artistic and scholarly pursuits toward a pluriversal academy. The teaching load will be negotiated based on the candidate’s strengths and will include the First-Year Experience and other general education courses that contribute to the development of intercultural competence. Additionally, the position will assist in building and expanding inter-departmental collaborations and transdisciplinary curriculum.
