Visiting Assistant Professor of English (Kenyon College)

Kenyon College, a highly selective liberal arts college in Gambier Ohio, invites applications for one or two one-year visiting positions in the Department of English at the rank of instructor or assistant professor.

Areas of specialization for the positions are creative writing (fiction) and/or any area of American or ethnic-American literature.  The term of appointment is July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.  The teaching requirement is three classes in fall 2016 and two in spring 2017.  Additional responsibilities include participation in the department’s senior examinations and honors program.  Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level is required.  Ph.D. or MFA preferred but applicants who have yet to complete the degree will be considered.

A complete application will include a cover letter detailing research interests, teaching experience, and teaching philosophy, with information on ways issues and practices related to diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity have been or will be included in teaching and in activities mentoring members of underrepresented groups; a Curriculum Vitae; three letters of reference (at least one of which must speak to the candidate’s teaching excellence); and a writing sample.
