Assistant Professor for Creative Writing TT – University of Houston-Downtown

The University of Houston-Downtown Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Creative Writing/Fiction with expertise in Latino/a Studies to start August 2016. Publications of fiction and a terminal degree in a relevant field are required. Publications and service are also required for tenure. Degree in hand by time of appointment is an asset; ABDs will be considered but must complete the degree by February 1, 2017.  The teaching load is 3/4.  Candidates must have an ability and willingness to teach upper-and lower-level creative writing courses as well as composition and sophomore literature surveys as part of regular course rotation; experience in these teaching areas is an asset.
