Assistant Professor of Instruction Asian American Studies (Northwestern University)

Northwestern University invites applicants for a non-tenure line, renewable Assistant Professor of Instruction position in Asian American Studies. We seek a candidate trained in the humanities and specializing in Asian American literature, media, and/or cultural studies. Geographic areas of specialization are open but those with expertise in Asian American Transpacific Studies, Hemispheric American Studies, Pacific Islanders, Filipino Americans, or Southeast Asian Americans are especially welcome. The successful candidate should be able to teach Introduction to Asian American Literature and other courses in their area of specialization. Responsibilities include: teaching six quarter-length courses with possible course reductions for additional service; program building; and collaborating with Asian American Studies students and faculty. This is a benefits eligible, full-time appointment starting September 1, 2016. Ph.D. is required by the start of the appointment. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience working with diverse student communities.
