Job Description: The African American Studies Program in the Department of Diversity and Community Studies at Western Kentucky University seeks applications for a tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in African Diaspora literatures, with specialization in nineteenth and twentieth century African American literature and popular culture. The successful candidate will teach core courses within the African American Studies Program, as well as other courses offered by the department, as needed. Instruction and scholarship in women and gender studies is a plus, as is experience with teaching online, curriculum development, and/or event programming. The candidate must demonstrate a promising research agenda and exhibit a strong commitment to interdisciplinary studies.

Located in the Department of Diversity and Community Studies, the Program offers a minor in African American Studies and teaches several general education courses each semester. We are seeking a scholar whose active research agenda contributes to new developments in the interdisciplinary nature of African American Studies. Evidence of scholarship required. Candidate must have an earned doctorate in African American Studies, Africana Studies, or related disciplines.
