Howe Now: Rereading Julia Ward Howe (2.5.15)
Scholarly interest in Julia Ward Howe has flourished since the publication of The Hermaphrodite, edited by Gary Williams, as part of the Legacies Series. New Howe scholarship has prompted us to reread and rethink Howe, whose work as a poet, travel writer, essayist, and novelist illustrates the conference theme of hybridity and liminality. This proposed panel seeks to foster our new understanding of Howe and invites paper proposals on any aspect of Howe’s work and life. Please send 250-word proposals or queries to Denise Kohn at firstname.lastname@example.org<mailto:email@example.com> by Feb. 5.
