Assistant Professor of English (Mars Hill University)

The English program in the Department of Language and Literature at Mars Hill University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English position, to begin in August 2015. The successful candidate for the position will be a specialist in Appalachian literature.


The successful candidate will share our facultys commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and to the liberal arts mission of the institution. A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment. Undergraduate teaching experience expected.


Duties will include teaching four courses per semester, to include general education courses (including first-year composition and introduction to literature), American literature surveys, and upper-level Appalachian literature majors courses; advising English majors; service to the institution; and ongoing scholarly activity.
