Assistant Professor of post-1865 American literature (University of North Alabama)

English: The English department at the University of North Alabama is seeking an Assistant Professor of post-1865 American literature (to include the 21st century). An emphasis in poetry and drama is particularly desired, and we welcome candidates with a secondary expertise in one or more of the following: critical theory, African American literature, gender studies, literature and the environment, and/or ethnic literatures.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a dedication to teaching excellence and a commitment to an active program of scholarship and research. Primary teaching assignments include first-year composition courses (which all faculty teach), the second half of the American literature survey, as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in appropriate areas of expertise. All faculty are expected to teach a 4/4 load with possible reductions for graduate courses. Participation in college service and student advisement will be expected. Competitive salary commensurate with degree, rank, and experience. This position will be filled pending budget availability. Applicants must have PhD in hand. College teaching experience is required.
