VISITING SCHOLAR IN LITERATURE—SUMMER 2015

The Doel Reed Center for the Arts in Taos, NM invites applications for the 2015 Jim and Linda Burke Visiting Scholar or Writer in modern or contemporary literature and/or the arts of New Mexico or the Southwest for one week during late May through early June 2015. The visiting writer or scholar will interact with students enrolled in Oklahoma State University’s summer class in Taos: Readings in the American Experience: The Nuclear Bomb and the Land of Enchantment (May 26-June 6). The scholar or writer also will be expected to deliver a public talk or give a public reading while in Taos and may be invited to do the same at Oklahoma State University. The honorarium is $5,000. Named after the internationally acclaimed graphic artist, the Doel Reed Center offers programs characterized by multidisciplinary approaches to teaching, research, and outreach focusing on the Southwest. The Center provides a unique opportunity for students and lifelong learners to explore diverse topics while immersed in the unique cultural and historical milieu and the spectacular landscape of the Taos area, a region that has long been a mecca for the literary and visual arts.
